Saw somewhere a better way to hold the plastic bait on the hook.Not glue,but something that you add over the hook when the bait is already on. Can someone refresh my memory? Don`t want my swimbaits pulling off the jighead.

Tacklewarehouse sells it and it's promoted by Jarrett Edwards on his show.
They have all sorts of colors, and a spiffy package but it's a bit $$.
If you just want black or red you can get "Rescue Tape" aka "Self-Fusing Silicone Tape" online or at most automotive parts places (I get mine at Fleet Farm). Some Walmart's carry it back in their auto supplies section. It's a high temperature, self fusing tape used to wrap electrical connections. I keep some in my boat to fix stuff and use on my baits.
I use it a lot on wacky worms and to hold grubs on my bass and crappie jigs. It really does work well! I use black most of the time, but the red looks kind of like gills or an injured bait fish and a lot of people insist on some red on any bass lure.

Good tip, Andrew. I also am trying out the wacky saddle which turns the hook to the right angle and is reusable for wacky style baits.

Andy, I've been trying to find a product to cover the eyes of jigs prior to powder paint. Wonder if this high temp rescue tape would work?

Ap I may be reading this wrong . But most times the eyes are put on after the paint .
fsh4fun do you make your own heads or buying them . I put a keeper wire in mine . You can purchase all sizes of SS wire lay it in the mold along with the hook . Will explain more . If need be .

Toad, I meant the hook eyes. Sorry. I really need to find a way to cover them and holding them with a pair of pliers sometimes isn't practical or leave a clean look. I'm going to try Teflon tape next time I pour. Just read this technique a week or so. I know Columbia coatings has a high temp tape that may have some benefit. This rescue tape may be a little expensive. Heat shrink, I'm pretty sure would work too but you couldn't use it on some applications. A swing jig, for instance.

Regular ole red rtv electrical tape will work . Like the guys said cheaper at the auto shop or electrical supply .If your doing a lot and you want to shell out bout a hundred fifty bucks . You can go electrostatic . Then you heat a jig after you spray not before . Ya just have to be careful and not touch or bang them together . It is such a light coat the eyes don't fill .

Electrostatic is a bit of a reach for me. Ever heard of so poor I can't pay attention? All kidding aside, I only make for myself and give a few away from time to time. I'd rather cover and keep my equipment collection to a minimum. The RTV electrical could be a real player here. The last time I put swim jigs together, I thought, there has to be a better way! Dang powder paints tougher than a WWII veteran. Time for some experimentation.

I'm not sure if that tape will work for covering the eye of the hook for powder painting...but I will try it. I have experimented with some other tapes that didn't work and I sure would like to find one! I'm hoping you have a really good idea!
