Title: Stick Bait Under A Float?
Post by: DF on 05/04/14 13:32 UTC
Was reading someplace on the interweb about fishing a senko style bait wacky rigged under a float.  Anyone try this?  Anyone fish other soft plastic bass baits with a float?

Last week I fished a 1.75" small fry under a float and caught these two (http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/05/05/qabe3uby.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/05/05/rura6uze.jpg)

I'd like to try the stick under one. Neat idea

I fish a small stick bait or 4" carrot, Wutz-it and the DD Gill all "wacky hooked" across the back under a small Redfish popper or a long stick bobber for smallmouth and northern pike. Especially if it's windy and the bobber is moving up and down it can be deadly.

The Redfish Popper gets the smallmouth's attention and when they see the "injured" bait below it they can't help themselves!! I usually use a heavy bass worm hook, often with a split shot about 8" above it so it can go deep.

Where I use I wacky rigged senko the most is this time of year. I'm saying I wouldn't use a float because I can't tell you how many times this time of year I had a bass pick it up and spit it. And then if I wouldn't have set the hook I would have lost it. This time of year you need to feel every little bite and a float won't do that for you.
