Mods please feel free to move this to safety whenever yawl see fit but I feel it would get read here the most at first.....
Okay two Fridays ago I was lighting a brush pile on fire with diesel. Well like most folks I've done this 1000 times and 999 times I can't get it to even light but 1 time is all i I need to get rushed to the ICU. All we can come up with is it blew up due to a perfect storm of things going wrong but it was lit with 100% diesel and 100% like I've done in the past. The moral of the story is never get complacent with anything!
If you wanna feel the most painful feeling man kind can have burn yourself! I have 2 degree burns from my elbow to my finger tips and 2 degree from my chin to my ear all on my right side. Basically sweat made the fumes stick to my skin and when I lit the fire I caught myself on fire. When I got to the hospital the doctor was going to life flight me out to Kansas City burn ward. Luckily the fire only burned the inside of my nose and not my respiratory system. My eyes were saved due to the fact I was waring sun glasses. The good Lord was watching out for me that is a fact! So let the moral of my story be 1 be careful with diesel! And never get complacent weather it be driving, pouring plastic or what ever. Life and limbs are precious and a fine line separates us from being able to talk about it or no being so lucky.
No word on when I can use the ole hand again but I hope I can do something within a week or two
This was taken with in 30 minutes of it happening the face and rest of the hand look like that about 4 hours after

-
WHOA... Sorry man, I hope you mend quickly.
-
WOW!!!! I thank God it wasn't any more serious than that or you may not have been around. I pray you heal quickly and thanks for the lesson on complacency, you never know when something out of the ordinary can happen.

That's why I don't use gas or anything of the sort to light fires! Just paper for me. Heal up quickly, Mo!
Back in march I got in a fight with a forklift, pics from the day of are attached. Pics from day 2 look worse. The forklift won. Bottom of my foot where the fracture was is still a little sore. Top of the foot has a (likely permanent) mark and feeling hasn't returned 100%.

Prayers to you Mo. That's not good at all.
I was a mechanic for many years and one of my pet cleaners was diesel because it wouldn't dry so fast. I had a similar incident happen to me but I got lucky and it only burned a pants leg and shirt sleeve.
I hate burns because they take so long to heal, especially when they're the deep burns like 2dn and 3rd degree suckers. This plastic we use has lit my up a few times and I have ample scars as reminders.
You take care and heal bud.

Mo,
Sorry to hear the news, sound like you were very fortunate. Pulling for you and praying for a full recovery. It appears it did not effect your incredible good looks or you sense of humor.
Bot, hope you are on your way to full recovery as well.

It's too bad that the bad things happen to good people :'(. Get well the both of you. :'(

Burn pain is very difficult to control. Hope and Pray for a low pain level recovery. Those blisters look wicked, and painful, to me. Hope no graphs are needed. Things get or of hand very quickly sometimes even when it is "routine".
-
Omg :o :-X pray for you both
-
My foot is mostly better; my chronic tendinitis and heal spur are much more painful at this point!
I have to say those blisters would drive me nuts and I'd end up popping them. Even though you're not supposed to and it would hurt more later. Just wait till that starts to itch!
-
Good luck with the healing process! How it is speedy.
