I got on the water at 4:45 this morning and had myself a field day with crappies, sunfish, a few bass and one huge old carp.
The crappies and sunfish were all oriented to shallow water and about the only real concern was staying in shade to stay on the larger fish. Small fish were all over the shorelines where there was un-shaded sunlight. Those big suckers liked the shade. That suited me fine. That big old pusser carp hit a stinger plastic in about 3 feet of water and before the net got it I was a couple hundred yards up-stream and center channel. Fun to catch but hard on things designed for 4 pound line.
I got a couple really solid largemouths to day as bonus fish. I snapped up a nice smallie too.
I didn't take the gate clicker today so I have no idea how many fish I got but there were several small areas that gave up ten to 15 crappies before they got worn out. The small fish hit continually as I worked my way along the shore in the open. By 9 the wind decided to come out and play and by 9:45 I said enough is enough. While I never lost a jig, I did forfeit quite a few plastics. The bite was real strong and some of the larger crappies really ripped up the soft formula plastics I was using. I'm headed to the shop now to re-place those lost ones with others made using medium plastic to see if they hold up better.

Sounds like a great day. And for the plastic, this might just me but I don't think I get near as many bites when using medium plastic with my smallfries

I got waylaid anyway so the shop time didn't happen. I might just make a few out of re-melts I have on hand in the colors I want. I'm one of those people who has to see for himself. I won't be squirting that many so no harm no foul is the baits are too stiff. I have pseudo friends that I can give them to. lol
