OK, maybe I have gone too far.... But it looks great in the water. And in its first 30 minutes in the water it caught a smallmouth and a Pike in the Milwaukee Harbor on Saturday.
I cut the blade to leave a spike of brass to impale the carrot. Its a 3" carrot so the entire bait is about 4". The vibration of the blade transmits back to the carrot and it has a great wiggle. If you flip the rod tip it darts left and right.

WOW, Talk about thinking outside the box!! You must be grinding the insert blade down to just a strip of metal?

FINE Thinking!
I put together a similar Gumbo for fishing in the Gulf...a 3 oz. Flutter Jig with a 6/0 Gamakatsu SuperLine EWG that sports a 5" Skinny Carrot. I wish I had a 4 oz. and 6 oz. FJ mold...
Good Job, PC!

I cut the insert on a jig saw before I poured it. Yes, its just a spike of brass with a little barb on the end.

I'm thinking about employing a Hitchhiker wire coil on the tail of one of my BladeBaits (store-bought), since seeing Your work here...

Can you still feel the vibration if you rip it off the bottom? Or does the plastic eliminate that?
-
The vibe is still there. I am going to try a smokin shad tail next.

Very Nice!!!!!!!!!!

Such a cool idea!

Hmmm 7" ribbon tail worm tail on that might be interesting on that. Nice work!

I have a 1/4 oz. blade the I use a owner screw lock that threads on and dose a great job of holding a 2" twister. I place it on the tip of the willow blade . There is a pic of mine in why we do it.

Very Cool Idea !!

Reminds me a bit of the "Dance's Eel" from 25 or so years back.

Very cool. I need to try that.
I make my own parasite clips which should work well

Good news and bad news....
Good news.... a brown and a big king on the hybrid this morning. Bad news is that a king took me in the rocks and broke me off...the prototype!!!!
I made a template now and two more finished lures for tomorrow. The Kings came in the harbor today. Let the games begin.
I'll keep you posted. This bait is HOT!
