Here's a euro jig pheasant tail with hotspot I tied yesterday on a 1/80th oz jig that ctom sent me. The dubbing for the "hackle" is a blend of 1 part rabbit, 2 parts squirrel, a pinch of rainbow black antron, and a pinch of hare's ear antron. The rest is just a typical pheasant tail nymph.

Excellent!!!! I wish I could tie those small ones like that, really good for panfish and trout. Nice work!

Thanks smalljaw, I've never tried nymphs for panfish. I've only used dry flies. I'll have to try it next time I take my fly rod out.

That is a great tie J. There are lots of fish that will eat that thing.

Very Nice!!!!!

Thanks guys. I've since tied a couple more, one with a bit of purple dubbing "hackle" under the regular "hackle." I really like the look of that one. I'll post a pic in a bit of it.

Here is the one with the purple. It shows up a lot better in person. My camera didn't really want to pick up the extra color in it.

Way before I got into fly fishing and tying flies I used to get ticked when the fly guys were catching and I wasn't. In 1984 an old magazine I used to get had an article called Weighted Lures for Weighty fish - it talked about tying fly patterns on jigs, I converted it to a .pdf doc but don't see a way to attach it here. If you'd like a copy pm me your email address and I'll send it to you, not actual tying of them but patterns that work good on jigs.
