Title: Lake Fork Lizard, 4.5" 11-12-14
Post by: Jerry V on 11/12/14 12:33 UTC
The Lake Fork Lizard was specifically designed to entice Spring and Fall feeding patterns as well as trigger defensive instincts.  Toss one in a Largemouth's spawning bed come Spring and try to get it back.  Somebody is going to eat it.  Until now the 7” version has been the only size Do-It has offered.  A very good size but many have requested a shorter version.

So here it is, the 4.5” Lake Fork Lizard.  It is simply a scaled down version of its big brother.  It has everything the 7” bait has, right down to the “W” shaped belly which encourages a gliding motion and a “C” tail and legs that are sure to draw some attention.

As usual, forum members hear about it first.  It will go up at the site later this week.

Al and Ron Lindner used lizards during the winter filming sessions years ago at Red Wing dam here in Minnesota. This lizard's size makes it a primo bait for winter walleye jigging on the Mississippi and other river systems that stay open in the winter will also see these doing harm to the waldo chops. This is one great addition to the plastic line-up.

Tom, Do you remember what colors the Lindners were using on those shows?  Just curious?

Purple is a remembered color Kyle. I'm thinking the old "grape" was another. I don't recall them using chartreuse but back then everybody and their brother was stuck on chartreuse twister tails, at least those that used plastic on walleyes then. The Lindners pretty much brought plastic into the walleye domain. At the time there was little in the way of panfish plastics but the did exist and bass anglers of course were already tied into plastics. Basically the Lindners took bass plastics and very pointedly fished them well outside of the arena by chasing walleyes and sauger with them. That concept is still being expanded today. The solid purple, or grape [Florida grape? or midnight blue? in the X2 line] still make outstanding walleye/ sauger bait colors.

I'm waiting for my mold to get the ice feeling out of it and then I am playing. The best part about this lizard mold is that the venting is on the top side of the mold...maximum play with this guy and I don't see a need yet to add more vents, the venting is substantial. More later.
