I was doing a little fishing to largemouth today at lunch and I was using the small crappie carrot with good success...but even better when I changed my rigging from vertical tail to the tail being horizontal.
I'm surprised at myself that I didn't do that originally because that is how I rig the CCM Glider (horizon tail) all the time. I get a lot better "glide" on both baits when rigged this way, in addition to a much slower fall.
So....how do you rig your crappie carrots?
Tail vertical
Tail horizontal

Both ways; and diagonal as well. It depends on how I am fishing it. If I think the fish will come from below ( as in spider rigging ) I generally will fish it flat. If I want a darting retrieve as in schooling fish I will fish it vertical or on a 45 degree. Faster drop - vertical; Slower drop - horizontal; More erratic - on a 45; given the same jig head weight. Jig head weight comes into play big time for me on this bait. I have not tested them a lot; but this is how I am starting out.
