Here is a picture of my "Bitsy Banana" jig, the first picture is just the slight modification and it is the wire keeper, that jig is 1/4oz with an Owner 5304 deep throat jig hook. The second picture is my bitsy banana, it is 3/16oz with an FG-12 weed guard and is in my "mud melon" pattern but my lousy photography makes it hard to tell what the color looks like. What I did to downsize the weed guard on the 3/16oz jig is I used epoxy putty to fill the weed guard slot and then I made a groove to fit my 5/64" pin I made from tool steel I got from speedy metals a few years back. What is really nice about the 3/16oz jig is that I used the smaller weed guard and a 3/0 Owner 5313 extra strong, short shank 90 degree jig hook in order to make this a compact little finesse jig for skipping boat docks and probing sparse cover in clear shallow water. The 5313 hook is strong, it isn't the typical Aberdeen style hook but it isn't a flipping hook either but the short shank lets me use the 3/0 which is strong enough to use 12# or 15# line without fear of bending the hook out, yet keeps the profile small, it is only slightly longer than my 1/8oz finesse football head with a 1/0 hook. I made the 1/4oz with a 3/0 5304 and it looks a lot larger than the 5313 but I made it with that hook as well, the purpose is to make a jig that works like the bitsy bug jig and the bitsy flip, and so far it looks good, I just need to test it out. For you guys getting into pouring, if you like the bitsy bug or bitsy flip jig, you owe it to yourself to check out the Do-it weedless banana jig, it is a really nice profile and I think it is going to be very effective as both a finesse jig and a flipping style jig in the heavier weights.

That's a really nice small profile jig Smalljaw. Love the hand tie and your selection of colors. I'm amazed sometimes the bass will hit the finesse clip on the skirt and won't touch a full skirt. Great work and appreciate you sharing it.

No way a smallie could resist that! No way! Very very nice for some reason I have a craven to drag that down all the private boat ramps on lake of the ozarks. I catch a lot of fish on boat ramps

Thank you guys!!! The trailer I used on that is a Prowler lure small eel chunk in a color called mud puppy and they don't make the eel chunk anymore, I had these for a bit and I wish Do-it would make a mold for them, killer finesse chunks.

This is exactly what I have been looking for! Too bad its not made anymore. I would like to find a finesse chunk for our river smallmouth.

I would REALLY like to see a mold like that also. Maybe as an Essential mold??? Maybe a couple/3 sizes in one mold?
There is something about that old "jig and pig" type trailer that really works. I think it's because the legs wave...more than flap...which works really well when you fishing really slow.

I still have about thirty jars of the old pork frogs that I like to use in the spring. I think the bass hang on to that salty meat longer than plastic.

Yep, older post, but that style never really gets old. I tie a good many bucktail jigs on the banana style heads. Have been using them for many years.
I was sorting through some older tackle the other night and found some jigs that I had bought, maybe 15 years ago, and they had small banana heads, 1/4 & 3/8 oz, and maybe a 2/0 or 3/0 hook. I know they were old, because the paint wasn't powder coat. I was going to put them on Ebay, then decided to maybe tie them with hair instead. Most were painted black or brown, and I'll use the hair from the backside of some bucktails that I have, That makes a good jig and if I lose them, not a big concern.
This isn't the head, but is how I'll tie them. ;D
