Maybe it's to early to ask this, but how often will you come out with new essential molds? Once a year like the lead molds or whenever you get something made? Also the essential molds will be copies of the machine molds you now have? Will new molds continual to come out in the machine line first? Could you guys offer custom molds in the essential line (cheaper) for those of us that want a custom mold of something not being made now?

WOW! that's a lot of questions but I suppose now that these new molds are actually here, we may as well address their future. I'll do my best to answer as I see it from Do-It Corp. World Headquarters here in the 50622... (Ryan may or may not have something to add).
1. I can see new Essential Series mold coming out when ever Doti darn well sees fit to introduce a new Essential Series mold. I don't see much, if anything, waiting for a catalog release to be launched. In this day and age with websites, our dealers and our own, the need to wait for a formal catalog launch has sort of outlived it's usefulness and effectiveness.
2. I don't think the Essential Series Molds will be, or need to be, "copies" of existing machined molds at all. (note the Beaver Bug) They will, at least initially, be very common, widely used, designs. Hence the moniker "Essential Series". Those baits that a serious angler should not be caught without. You'll notice the initial lineup contains some very common baits used in a variety of proven techniques. I would expect that to continue.
3. It does make sense to introduce a machined design first and then a cast design as a pattern is needed to cast from but I don't know that it's something that absolutely has to be done. We can create a pattern without releasing it as a CNC machined design. I would like to think the creative options for either line are wide open.
4. The same steps are needed to create any custom design, be it machined or cast. A machined pattern must be created in order to cast anything. So no, we won't be offering cheap custom sand molds.

Will there be some actual bait photos from these molds coming? I think seeing the resulting baits (maybe even a side by side shot, like frogs) and how they differ from actual cnc'd molds would get folks off some $$$ vs the concept of you have buy the mold to see the baits you will get.
I realize these molds might not be aimed at "this crowd" however I can see purchasing several molds myself for baits I will use but may never want to sell. Heck, there is always a little extra plastic left in the cup.

The photos on Janns' site are from the essential molds. We will also have them on our site this week. I know that Tackle Warehouse and a few others will be online this week as well. Most of the distribution is scheduled for after the first of the year. It will also take time before you start to see things on the shelves.
We started with the basic proven producing baits and modified them to work in our manufacturing process. There are specific tweaks that need to be made to a design for a mold to cast compared to a cnc mold, but there is very minimal differences.
As always, we are happy to send out samples so people can see first hand. Jim, shoot me or JerryV a pm with what baits your are looking at and we will get some sent out for you.

Thanks for the offer! I ordered a few of the molds so I am good. From the pictures on Jann's, I see no difference at all in the baits.

The main one I noticed was the nose on the swimbaim seems "bulkier", the grub body is obvious too, however I am a big fan of the ribs on the cast mold, vs's the bodys on the machined!
And 4 cavitys of the jerkbait for $30, how can I pass that one up?

The grub is a totally new bait, and yes it has more exaggerated ribs. The swimbait is very similar in body dimensions to the smokin shad. The photo shows eyes attached and a dipped head that makes it appear a little bulkier.

A question I have. Can we buy samples of these baits like the other molds ?

I am very torn between the 3 inch k chub and the essential series grub... Would like to see a sample of both baits...

Yes you can buy samples from the essential series.
The new grub is more slender, with a heavier rib segment.

Ok thanks. I'd be interested in the Beaver Bug if it were as thick as the original beaver or (Berry bug) but it looks thin in the picture.

A question I have. Can we buy samples of these baits like the other molds ?
i would like to see the senko.. craw an finesse worm if possible?

Thanks Jerry! I like that larger k-chub tail, seems to have better movement and thump than the typical twister tail. I'm sure I'll pick this mold up.

The finesse worm mold will be here Monday so I will shoot some and take some pics for the gallery...
