Title: Blue Fleck 1 / Pearl
Post by: DF on 01/12/15 13:21 UTC
Normally I use this color just for Ring-It worms but thought I'd give it a try in some other baits.  They didn't quite turn out like I wanted, they seem kind of bland. Any ideas on how to jazz these up a little?

I like those curly tail a lot. For bass they look good the way they are.

I agree, those RTW are great as is.  Not flashy maybe, but they'll work great.

Nice work as usual DF.

Trust me on this one, DF.  I do not criticize others work.  Your stuff is magnificent...except for the senko tail.  I think it's kind of ok, but kind of ho-hum too.  Maybe some silver or chartreuse flash.  (I'm going to go put on my lead underwear now.)

I'm with Denny on this one. Senko with white just doesn't get it with me. I say change that tail to chartreuse or maybe even a blue would be a better choice.

Thanks for the honest input guys, I will give some different color tails a try.  Boxers or briefs Denny?  :)

Man...DF...don't fix it if it ain't broke, Bro.

But, on the other side of the Coin...hmmm...how 'bout some Red Hilite in the Pearl.  I like it as-is, but to add something, I'd add Red Hilite to the Tail to accent the Plum, and if that still won't cut it, how 'bout some Blue Flake either with or without the addition of the Red Hilite...dotdotdot

I like the color myself. I wouldn't change a thing. Main thing, does the fish like them?

I caught a bunch of bass on ring-it worms this color in the spring and early summer, so I like the color, just not to sure about it in these baits.

And uuhhh...podna, them Toads are On Time.
Just getting this mold warmed up. ;)

It may sound crazy but I promise this pops. It has also worked for me as a kid. Lime green or green chartreuse. I like the worm and toad as is though but the senko and worm would both pop with that adjustment.

Buck Naked Boxer/Briefs from Duluth Trading Company.  Best underwear ever made, period.  Every now and again they stink a little bit, butt I never claimed to be perfect.

BKJ might be right on here for the senkos, red (or violet) hilite and blue glitter.  I'd dose the blue fleck w/ the same hilite to tie them together color-wise.

And if you just want something different, cc1 is right; lime green or chartreuse w/ plum would be a no brainer here too.  Match blue glitter w/ the blue fleck to tie it together as well.

OMG that's to funny. I thought I was the only one that wear those. And your right they are the best. They're high dollar but they last for years. I think I've wore them for ten years or so and never have wore a pair out. And try their fire hose jeans and jackets. They are made for real men in the real world.

Yeah, the only thing I would change is maybe to make the stick have white/pearl at both ends?

How about these? They have a bit more pop.

Hey DF...Are you a girl?

On a more serious note...those things really "pop".  I especially like the f/c and blue pearl.  The bg will take some getting used to.

No..why? Is my color selection not manly? :)

Bubble Gum color sticks are hot here in the spring, not my first choice but they catch fish.

Man walks down the dock with a bait like that, people know he's not afraid of anything. ;)

Ok DF, serious question. Do you have both of the Blue Fleck colors and if so, which do you prefer? I have the blue fleck shown and use if as a tweaking color, but seeing it here I think I'll cook up a less strong batch to get some transparency and go with the green flake, sort of like Junebug. Just curious how that other Blue Fleck color looks in a bait.

Nope Ctom, I only have Blue fleck 1, I like the idea of using it like a junebug color

Nice Botanophilia :)  you should see the hat I wear fishing, its about as big around as a truck tire and just as ugly, but it keeps the sun off me.

I'm the same way, D.  I wear a LARGE hat.  Love it.

I bet I've still got over 75 hats hanging and hiding around here...mesh, solid, wide brim, no brim, leather, waterproof, sun proof, some with feathers, most without, couple with chin straps...you get the picture.  What works best for me now is a buff and ball cap combination.  It seems to cover all the bases.

And the bald spot?

A quick tip, if you have a multi cavity mold and you just want to shoot one bait, leave a piece of the sprue in the mold to block the other cavities. This is a good way to use up the last bit of your plastic or to see what a color is going to look like.

The way ol' DF thinks, I believe he could earn a spot on Do-It's R&D team. He's always outside the box.  8)
