From what i understand you pure half the mold then drip colorant on the poured side then shoot the rest if not any info will help me out alot and iv tried posting pics of baits iv made but it never works lol

Maybe I'm wrong but I thought a core shot was hand pour a small amount of plastic in the mold and then inject the rest. It only works well with top pour molds.

First, the hand poured plastic has to be fairly cool before the colorant is dabbed on it. Second, you have to be careful how much colorant you put on the hand poured portion. I've had very limited success using any colorant other than the X2 products because others are just to thin to show up well. Too much colorant will prevent a decent weld and can leak into the mold creating one heck of a mess. The process takes some serious practice and even then there is no way to predict how things will turn out.

Lamar and ctom are both right; there are two different techniques for achieving a similar outcome. I can tell you right off that using the method Lamar outlined absolutely will not work with multi cavity molds.

Ya, I struggled with doing it this way for a while and discovered the way I do it now and haven't ever looked back.

I guess what Tom is showing is what I call bleeders. To me a core shot is done on a single top pour mold. Most guys take a lighter color first and a darker color to push through it to make the core shot.

Here is what Lamar is talking about.

Upload to photobucket, copy the image link, and hit the icon right above the first smiley face, paste it in there in between the two image brackets and preview it to make sure it worked. And I wonder if DF's core shot would work well on the 2 cavity ES frog? The way the cavities are placed on either side of the runner it seems that the plastic would flow pretty evenly between them, although I could certainly be wrong. Just a thought 8)
