Title: A novel thought

I'm adding another transducer to the transom of the boat but want to have a gasket between the boat on the transducer mounting plate. Actually I want to add a gasket under the existing transducer bracket too. I heated up some junk plastic and shot it in an aluminum pie tin, then spread it to about 1/8" thick to cool. I'm making paper templates to lay on this plastic and then cut a seal out of it to match both bases to use as a gasket to help keep leaks out. The screws for mounting should compress this enough that the bases will be tight to the transom and that no water can get back to the screw holes. I'm mounting the new locator tomorrow and will report back on how this works.
