Made a few chatter baits today. These are a few that I made in 1/2 oz. I find that the heaver weight keeps the bigger shad down better plus I can add a 4/0 hook.

You like the arky for chatter baits?

Yes they seem to work ok. I'm thinking about my swim jig mold or even my poison tail mold just to see how it works.

Poison tail works pretty good. I just have a hard time opening the eye of the hook. I'm going to start using a spinnerbait hook and wire in it.

I use a shaky head hook and take a die grinder to make it fit the mold. If your careful you can pour both types of hooks just fine after modifying it. I like that the hook because it is a little longer. I think it makes for better hook ups. And I can buy up to a 6/0 in it.

Didn't you already mod the poison tail mold to make spinnerbaits? Wouldn't that wire work?

I prefer the arky style head for mine simply because of the amount of docks and boat houses on my lake the arky head is just a better fit for skipping under a dock. If I'm fishing deep or open water I'd prefer a football head chatterbait.

I really like those, perfect colors for bladed swim jigs!! Speaking of head styles, I was using the Snootie and then I tried a round head and it was good but the Trokar Pro Swim Jig is just awesome, it vibrates well and comes through cover with ease.

What do you use to open the eye? Heat it up and pry it open?

Yes, I heat mine red and use a side cutter to barely open the eye so it will still fit in the mold. Then squeeze it down once the blade is in.

I think both work great - I use the swim jig for bass-sized chatters and the large PT for musky-sized chatters.
