I have never been a guy to add eyes to my jigs but recently bought the eye socket production molds in 1/4,5/16,3/8 along with having the teardrop mold.
Bought 3-4k eyes off eBay and was curious what everyone likes to use to secure the eyes on. I been using gel super glue works good until you get the glue on the eye then it will cloudy the eye up.

I'm not an eye guy, per se... (I only use the Do-it stick on eyes for my wutz-it baits.)... but I think that jighead would look great on the front of the essential swimbait for walleyes.

On jig heads I don't use eyes but will put some on for pictures. I just stick them on and then seal with a clear coat similar to clear fingernail polish.

I use Duco Cement - use a cheap brush to put it on. Do all one side then the other - haven't lost one yet.

Those are nice looking finished eyes.

I coat over mine with D2T.
Works great.
I have yet to hear of a jig loosing an eye.
My jigs often get beaten to death in the rocks saltwater fishing and no complaints from clients yet.
I use eyes up to 9/16 and the D2T hasn't let me down.

Kasilof, do you thin the D2T with anything when coating your lures (or eyes)? On our flutter jigs, we seem to get quite a thick coat which I am worried may interfere with the fluttering action. Thanks for all of your informative lure-making posts.

If I do I use a drop or two per batch of Denatured Alcohol.
Go real easy with it. A drop or two in a bigger batch is all you need.
One drop or less may be enough for smaller batches.
I don't know what size flutters you are making but on my saltwater sizes I don't believe it will hurt.
On the under one ounce sizes it might make more of a difference.

You have the same cheap eyes I get for swim bait heads and here is what I do. I use Loctite brush on super glue, just a tiny bit in the eye socket, I line 5 heads up and just barely touch both eye sockets with the brush, after I have all 5 heads hit with glue I'll go and put the eyes on and then set aside. Once I have all my jigs with eyes I mix up Devcon 2 Ton Epoxy 30 minute epoxy as Kasilofchrisn has already mentioned and then put a coat over the entire head, this will make the color pop, it will also help protect the finish and the eyes will not come off unless the head is complete junk. It sounds hard but it isn't but those cheap eyes need to be glued as the adhesive is bad. Now, if you want to skip the glue, buy eyes from WTP, I never saw adhesive as good as what they use, I made a spinnerbait and put eyes on it with no epoxy topcoat just to see how long it would go until the eyes fell off. Well I caught at least 50 fish on that bait and used it for just about 2 seasons and the eyes never came off, I lost the bait after it got hung up in a deep brush pile, I made a cast and my buddy had a good one on so I let my bait sit and I netted the fish for my friend and when I went to start reeling in my bait it was snagged. The thing of it was that the eyes never fell off, WTP 3D eyes are the best but they are also expensive, I use them for spinnerbaits , chatterbaits, swim jigs and now fish head spins, for swim bait heads I use the cheap ones.
