Title: Carrot "Tips"
Post by: Jason on 10/24/11 09:07 UTC
A tip mold will allow you to make different colored ends for your Carrots and then put them in the Carrot mold and inject the main Carrot whatever different color you want.  Please let me know by voting if you would purchase one and what size you are most interested in.

Thank you,

Jason

Are the molds cut to do this currently? Won't the tip stuck in the mold keep air from escaping when you inject? Just wondering. Also, how long would the tip be? I would want something longer than an inch on my 6" skinny carrots. Since the "tail" acts like the back of a fish in a way, it would need to be several inches long. (JMHO)

Mike - great observation on the venting.  I can't explain why, but they do work without additional venting.  You can take some and give it a try - no issues.  Strange???

6" skinny carrot.

A question: Do the tips all have to be the same length (from a user standpoint) How about 3"-2"-1"  in one mold?

Or all 3"...and you cut them to the length you want....what would "look" better....the straight cut or a rounded head blending into the next segment?

Or a curl tail...or Go-go grub tail that could be welded onto a Carrot? (we must just drive Jason crazy!!!) :-\

When I cut ...and reinsert...I don't make mine all the same length. But....I'm kind of a non-conformist....or is that indecisive?

I have not injected longer carrots ( Yet ); but have played with the Crappie carrots.  I straight cut mine to make tails ( or heads ) at the moment; in order to see what length "looks right".  On the small carrots thats no big deal; but on the longer carrots that would be a pill.  The front injects well if the tail is placed in the mold correctly; and "welds" well.  I tried glueing heads to tails and my success was VERY limited.  I can't cut straight or glue straight either.  Before I committed myself; and Jason; to a length I would cut several lengths and inject with both complementary & contrasting colors.  When you see the result; you will know which looks "right" to you.

I would think most would like the straight cut better.  It's a cleaner look if you are using transparent colors.

As far as the length goes, that's what I'm trying to figure out, what's there interest in.

I'm going to buy you a glue gun for Christmas!   :D

I've wondered this myself, as I like an "Avocadoe/Neon with a Red Tail" for Saltwater.  Thank You, Jason, Sir!  I'm definitely gonna give that a try!  Since I don't have any Red colorant, I'll just use Clear plastic with maybe a "2X" flake...RuhRoh!

Will this mold fit the 5" Wutz-it?

If you could see me now, without hair, from trying to make hundreds of white Wutz-its with red tails, you would laugh!!! I get 10 good for every 20 I make.... Lots of bubbles in the area close to the tail...

That should be an easy fix.  A small vent before the tail on the spru side of the bait should allow this and not impact regular baits.  PM me if you want me to test this first.  Jason

Weird how this would happen on the wutz-it but not a carrot mold.

No need to test. I am giving up and telling the guy I can't do them because of the time involved.
