Yep, way back in the 70's. Was not called a Neko rig, called Ron's rig, or better yet a nail rig. I still use it especially in the under waterr grass when they are hiding to ambush.
Try this rig when you are shooting bridge supports.. One option is to use crappie jigs with eyes in the fat head area and put the hook in the tail as shown. Works great.

I've used this rig with great success. All I do is shove a cut off nail in the end of the worm. Cheap and easier than screwing it in like shown in the video.

Thank guys I will have to give it a shot. It's funny how all these hot techniques that were invented in Japan and brought to the US in the last decade have already been in use here by some for 20 or 30 years, such as the drop shot and the wacky rig. I know I was using a drop shot before it was "invented".

There are so many more out there that have not been made public or marketed to catch the anglers. :)

So I saw this and watched the vid.
I made a screw lock and a 1/4 sinker. Added it to a Do-it Spear tail worm. Added the hook as shown.
As suspected caught one fish and lost the rig when the bass jumped.
A shakeyhead does pretty much the same thing and rig wont fly off.

Yup, even using an O-ring can't prevent that when a fish gets shaking.

A jighead with the hardware cut off, or a jighead poured with no hardware (unless the keeper is a wire and not a lead collar) will act as a Worm Nose Weight for a Neko Rig.
Edit...laying here trying to fall asleep, fretting about this job I'm on...I think that a small lead weight stuck into the nose of a plastic worm, only held in by the keeper/collar of the lead part, with a fish shaking its head, the Neko Rig might ought to be renamed to the Eye Remover Rig.
