Title: Number of tabs for skirts?
Post by: Jigsisme on 12/05/15 09:09 UTC
Just curious, how many tabs do you use when making your skirts? I normally use 2 1/2 to 3...depends on style and colors for me.

2..5 is my standard.

Swim jigs with 1.5 are popular here in Minnesota....especially for swim jigs.

I use two on all my jigs. But I don't skirt all the way around. I do a 3/4 with the hook/weed guard side open.

I usually use three tabs, however I also tie up some jigs using marabou, feathers, mylar or bucktail and them top it all off with one tab. The one's I make with three tabs; I use a trailer like most bass jigs. The ones with one tab I fish without a trailer in the spring and fall.

1.5-2. I think there is such a thing as to much skirt. I fish all my jigs with a trailer. And match the trailer to it. But in slight contrasting colors.
