Kasil, how do You like to throw 'em?
-
I see this Weedless Rigging next on Underspins, yeah...
I guess I could Modify a few heavier cavities of the Tip-Up to take a Wire Form or a Wire Eye and make some Underspins that way, for a Version-as-Such.

I fish them for trout. No bass here in AK.
Sometimes trolled.
Usually thrown to the edge of weedbeds when we are casting mepps and fished the same way.

No Bass !!!!! :o And you live there why ???????

We've got plenty of fish and some good ones at that.
I'll take my salmon and Halibut over bass anyday!
The average Kenai river red salmon is 6#.
The silver salmon fight way better than bass do and average bigger than the reds.
Our Halibut are often thrown back if they are not 20# or bigger and. 50#-100# are not uncommon.
So I guess I just don't need bass(and yes I've caught bass before).
Alaska is considered a fisherman's paradise by many people!
To each his own but I feel bass are overrated anyway.
-
Oh Good...a fish feud.....and I'm not in it. ;D
-
I'm with you Chris. Alaska is a magical place. If you haven't been, you owe it to yourself to visit. Plan at least a couple weeks in July or August starting July 15. Sorry for the thread creep, BKJ.
-
I'm sure some of BKJ's jigs would catch some Alaskan fish.
Lamar and ctom are also welcome here.
Nothing wrong with bass but not my cup of tea.
Especially since they don't reside in my state.

Funny you say this....Carole and I are looking at a cruise up that way for this summer. Lots of options and we're still studying. She's also got her eye on Reno/Lake Tahoe/Denny Welch destination.
Right now I'm getting the snowblower and shovels ready for tomorrows blizzard that's predicted. Maybe a foot of snow.

I have fished the inside passage all the way to Alaska and the fishing was second to none. We caught so many salmon we lost count after the first day. Was just joking on the bass part. I'll have to say I would take fishing in a remote wilderness lake in Northern Canada over that most any day. Only because I love fishing walleye and big northerns over fishing for salmon and trout. But I also will say I can't wait to go back. It was an incredible journey and one worth doing again. Not sure I could live in Alaska but just south of you is Vancouver. That is the coolest city I have ever been to.

Carole didn't say anything about you being there.

Even with the 1/8 oz. SSR, the 4" Finesse Worm on the Frame with the Hildebrandt 3.5 Willow, the Blade Torque from the 3.5 was a little much and the Rig ran slightly crooked too much of the time for me. Same 1/8 oz. 'Head and 4" FW on the Frame with the #3 Hildebrandt Willow did a bit better in running more true. Through a Slow-Medium Retrieve Speed Range the bait swayed very nice, side-to-side.
And the fact that these are Weedless is truly the Sauce on the Pasta. If I'd had these through all my years, I would have saved enough money to buy myself a Calcutta Conquest 200, or 2, by not losing so many Spinners/Spinnerbaits to snags!
-
Just Another. 4" Curltail, Remelt Turned a somewhat-Tequila Green, Super Soft. 1/8 oz. Darter on Mustad 32831BLN 2/0. Hildebrandt #3 Gold Willow. Very stable combo.

Shot through the Heart! And Kevin's to Blame! I gave my Spinner, a BAD NAME!

Made several Spinners yesterday, all out of Brown #15 Wire. I put some larger-than-my-usual Blades on a few Frames, Hildebrandt Indiana 3.5 and Colorado 3.5. I used Cabela's Black BB Swivels for the larger Blades...I'm low on my usual Super-Slick Swivels, and only used the better swivels for the Frames with Willow Blades.
It has been my past experience that the Colorado 3.5 were about right for 1/4 ounce "fixed/rigid" Spinnerbaits, and the Indiana 3.5 was a bit too much for a 1/4 ounce Rigid, the Indiana made the Spinnerbait Head/Skirt ride sideways, and even spin around the Blade on a fast retrieve.
Because of the Stability I saw in the 4" Senko on a 1/8 ounce Tip-Up, I made a few with the Harder-Turning Blades to experiment with. The Rig in the pic is exactly that...the Senko4 on 1/8 ounce Tip-Up, 4/0 Mustad 32831, Hildebrandt Indiana 3.5. Went cast it a little while ago in the slightly-swollen Tangipahoa. This one THUMPS and is Absolutely Stable even in that fast Current.
I'm not sure if it's a Center of Gravity issue, or what, but I am loving the Stability Across the Board so far.

Thank Yawl, Fellas!
Made a few from Stainless Brown Wire, Size #19, .043".
The 1/8 ounce Black SSR on 3/0 474 (with a 4" Senko) did fairly well on the Spinner with the Indiana 3.5, but it's not as Completely Stable as the 1/8 ounce Tip-Up. That SSR ran maybe 20-degrees to one side or the other, from Directly Below the Blade. Running Directly Below the Blade is what I call "Stable". The SSR was stable about 75% of the time, the other 25% it ran about 20-degrees off of Stable...an acceptable trade-off when the SSR's Attributes are desired. It does have a nice Shimmy AND a Swimming, side-to-side Sway.
Made a few Inlines...the one in the pic is made with small Glass Beads from the Craft Section at WallyWorld, and a Black Nickel (laquer-coated) #4 Colorado from Barlow's...1/8 ounce Tip-Up. Again, this one is Stable, but the Blade doesn't Thump near as Hard as the Hildebrandt Indiana 3.5. The Glass Beads fit with little space between the Hole in the Bead and the .043" Wire, and produce a very light Rattle, unlike Metal Beads. It's also more Compact than a standard Spinner, which is more Cast-friendly. Another addition to the Repertoire.

Best Combo with a 1/8 oz. SSR was a Hildebrandt Willow 3.5 on .035" Wire...American-made BB Swivel, Senko 4". Stable, and with a Sway that made ME want to bite it. Oh. My. Rod.
I wish I could make a video of that Rig and That SWAY! Yawl would try to Tip that Thang a Dollar!
