Just powder painting the slabs wasn't doing it for me. So I broke out the airbrush and got to work. If you see white and chartreuse in the same compartment it's because those baits are white on one side and chartreuse on the other.

Great looking bait's . What mold is the bottom right corner of the pic?
-
Uh oh... I think you might have just stepped over the threshold that leads into custom crank bait coloring.

Do-it Shad bait/slab. Those are all poured in standard Do-It molds.
I'm not into crank baits. Don't really fish them much beyond a Rat-L-Trap and those in Chrome.

Nice batch of baits!!!!!!!!!!

Count yourself as one of the fortunate ones. ;)

Those do look nice!
You should try doing a few in holographic foil.
I posted a tutorial awhile back.
Airbrush over the foil and then topcoat.
Makes an awesome looking slab.
I do that with a few slab jigs from my Shawn Collins molds.

Very cool, great production. I do believe you got the hang of it.

Some Shad Bait lures. I did all three sizes but only took a picture of the 1.5 ounce.

Over 150 baits in the "Dream Box", so called because I know lots of guys dream of getting their hands on it.

Very nice assortment of slabs! So you ditched the powder paint or used an airbrush with the powder paint?
I just got the do it shad bait mold n was fixing to make several up. I really like the shad spoon lures also. I also just got a gun to try my hand with spraying powder....have always just fluid bathed and tapped for painting with powder.
-
I powder paint then airbrush over it.
-
If your airbrushing; you must be top coating when everything is finished?
-
As clumsy as I am an airbrush wouldn't help me!!LOL But it would help painting blade baits and I really don't need another addiction for making fishing lures
-
Yep. I'm giving Solarez a try right now as a top coat.
-
How do you powder coat the bigger baits, do you build a bigger fluid bed, or some other method.
-
I use 3" cups from TJ's or make my own.
I heat them in a frying pan on a hot plate.
Grab them with some hemostats by the wire and dip. I keep the fluid bed cups full enough to almost come to the top of the cup. I can do up to 2 oz slabs this way with no problem.

My taller cups are 2" x 12" tall I can do 25oz slab jigs that are 10"long in mine no problem!
I have three tall fluid beds going at once.
I heat big jigs in the toaster oven.
Dip in white base coat, then dip in primary color, hit it with the powder paint airbrush for accent colors, then dip in UV blast.
Hang to cool then cure in my toaster oven as usual.
My biggest jig is 48oz but requires a taller 3" cup to fit.
Fluid beds and cups are cheap and so easy to build I have a bunch of them.

Very nice... Be careful with your dream box. I had a blade bait box very similar that had 300+ custom painted, expensive eyes and expensive hooks all in one box.... It fell off the side of the boat and sunk like a rock... I lost $1,200.00-$1,800.00 worth of baits in about 2 seconds , Never to be found again. >:(
