Title: Craw molds to buy
Post by: Marnus on 09/15/16 01:15 UTC
Hey Guys

Looking around for some craw molds and I need an opinion on the action and quality, since it will be a rather big expense.

Im currently looking at the;

736 Craw from Basstackle
709 craw from BTS

I would please like ask you guys for opinions. My budget is $50 for a single cavity mold. The craw will be an all rounder to use either as a trailer or jighead or even good old texas rigged. The size I am looking for is around 4''.

Thanks guys

I have a 4" BTS craw 2 cavity injection mold I would sell you. It has a great swimming/flapping claws action. Great shape and shoots great. Looking for $65 shipped to your door. Wanting to move up to a 4 cavity mold. Email me at Hrootbeer1@aol.com

My "perfect" Craw mold hasn't been designed yet, but a Tube is actually a Good Craw Imitator.  Tubes are also very Versatile in the World of Tackle Craft.

For a Craw with Claws, I personally like the Culprit Incredi-Craw (3.5") with the 2 Curltails cut off, leaving about 1/4" Nubs where the Curltail Appendages were.

I do have a Tube mold, too (Do-it 4").  My personal taste for a Tube Mold Bait applied as a Craw, I would get the 4.5" and trim the Strands to get the Total Length I want, but the 4" Tube Mold I have makes a Gorgeous Smaller Craw Imitation, for dat Light-stuff Bass Rod.

If I had my way at the Do-it Shop, I'd put Cherry Picker Claws on a 4.5"/4.25" Birch Bug Body...THAT'S a Craw, IMO.  I like a Darting Craw.  For an Action Craw, I have the 4" Glade Grub, which can be dipped to thicken the Body, if desired.

You may have seen my post about the Tube Body and Glade Grub Legs as an Air-filled, Floating, Kicking Frog.  Do-it Tube Molds have Splines with Inserts...Splines make the Strands, Inserts make the Body Hollow...unscrew the Insert from the Spline to make a Solid Tube Body.

  Another great crawl mold is the 702 craw. I have many different crawl molds, but it's my favorite. Just my 2 cents.

Marnus, look at Do-It's Mad Dad 4" #95078. It's in budget and a nice looking craw.

Sorry Marnus, correction...$54.75. Looked at the wrong size.

I would wait until we get some news about BTS. I doubt you can find any on the used market right now. Keep your eyes open though.
