Thinking about buying the bullet nose swimbait head for using on a A-rig. The mold says 1/0 for like 1/8 and 1/4. Did you guys have to modify your mold to put like a 4/0 in a 1/4 ounce? What head do you guys make for your A-rigs?

Get The Shad head rig jig, it has a wire keeper and the head has recessed eye sockets to add 3D eyes if you want to add some realism. The head was made for A-Rigs and it takes a 3/0 and 4/0 hook in all the cavities, it goes from 1/8oz to 7/16oz, I use it to fish swim baits buy itself as it comes through grass better than a ball head. The head also uses a wire keeper instead of a lead collar, to me it doesn't matter but I know some guys really like wire keeper instead of lead collars but that is the mold you want, it has the right size hooks and works very well.

I don't fish A-rigs but I dig the Shad Head/Wire Keeper. It pulls from the Nose, goes down to 1/8 ounce. The Wire Keeper is great, IMO, for 2 reasons...incomplete Collar pours are sometimes troublesome (which is a problem with harder and/or dirty and/or cooler lead), and the Wire doesn't swell the plastic like a Lead Collar does so You can use narrow plastics without splitting the plastic by over-stretching, as can happen with the Lead Collar.
The Almighty Dremel is a Lead Pourers Friend. Many molds only need mild modification to the Hook Wire Recess/Recesses to accept the heavier wire and longer hook-eye-wire of bigger hooks, respectively.

Amen to that. As is JB Weld, Hi Temp.

I fish and make a lot of arigs. Take Smalljaw's very sage advice. It's a great head for it and it's what I use.

One thing I've noticed is most of Do-It's molds are for the Northern guys. Just about every one my twenty or so molds have been modified foe larger hooks.

That's surprising. Canney Creek, the orginal company was from Lake Fork Texas!

MuskyGary I think he's talking about the lead molds.

I agree baskat. I have to cut them to make them bigger
