What I've experienced:
Microwave
Quick and easy
Can retain heat if placed on burner or if you cover
Bubbles can be an issue and sometimes a nightmare
Quickly burns
Pot
Can heat more at a time and retain heat
Slower
Bubbles are not an issue
Have to keep stirring because will brown plastic closest to heating element

If you're going to use a pot, you really need a stirring system with it.

I'm using a microwave now but wish I could have it stay at a stead temp like you could get with a pot. I need to be able to make more plastic each go.

I'm considering a Sta-Warm plastisol pot. Wow they are pricey, but if it works really well it might be worth the money, and nice to work with. I'll have to check again, my memory isn't great, and I'm just guessing, but the last quote I got 3 years back was around $685 for the small pot.

Pot on an electric burner!
All that beeping of the microwave sounds like a dump truck backing up and keeps me rubber-necking while trying to shoot my baits, so I switched. My neck feels better.

I have 3 lee pots, a presto pot and a microwave and use all three depending on what I'm pouring. There's a learning curve to the lee pots, you can't just set it and forget it.

I use a microwave but really would like to get a rite hete pot so the reheats would minimal if at all. On the walleye bait’s I pour are 12 or more at a shoot. I have 5 5 cavity 3” Ripper 5 4 cavity essential 3” twister and 2 12 cavity and 4 3 cavity 3.5” swim shads. It’s nice to be able to shoot 2 cups of plastic at a shoot there is no variation in color do to reheats. That’s the only I can be consistent but there are other people that shoot less amount of plastic and there consistent that way too.

Microwave pros: I already had a perfectly good one stored in the garage. I did not however, have a pot. So microwave it is.

Rite Hete rocks! I bought a new VR 1 qt. model (direct from RiteHete), and bought a used VR 1 pt. model on Ebay. Both work exeptionally well, athough I think I like the Qt. model a little more. It seems to heat quicker, and is easier to clean. Pros are: no fear of scorching with either pot, no problems with micro bubbles, no color changes due to overheating, scraps can be chopped into smaller bits and added back to the mix to remelt in a decent time. Cons would be slower initial heat up times, and cost. Also, you cannot utilize a dual or triple injector. I hand pour from one pot, and inject the second color from the other pot. Takes a couple rounds of shooting to get used to the system, but I love it!
