I have been pouring the plastic into 1 qt. canning jars so I can see it's properly mixed before it goes into the Pyrex cups and heated in microwave.
Any problems with long term storage in these jars?

I don't see any issues other than possible breakage. I keep all of my "bench" plastic is quart plastic bottles that allow me to see if there's any separation in the plastic. The raw plastic won't freeze in any of the lower 48 states and I keep my raw plastic out of direct sunlight. I think you're good on storing it.

Quart jars are a good idea Steve J. You can definitely see if there is any settling through them. I bought some 1/2 gallon jugs from work. They are semi transparent like a milk jug, but not like a glass canning jar. I don't think there could be any sort of contamination with the glass.
