Title: Swapping out hooks.....
Post by: ctom on 05/15/17 17:51 UTC
Who swaps the factory hooks out for better quality ones or those with a more specific purpose?

I buy lots of Salmon and Lake Trout blade baits for casting and trolling but so many of the baits today come with hooks resembling pointed re-bar that I almost invariably pull the factory dullies and hang much better hardware in their midst. Gammis and Mustad Ultras have been my treble direction for the last few years along with some VMC's in a couple instances. My spinners and the blades I make or order as blanks I spend some money on the hooks too. I know BareKnuckleJigs swaps out factory hooks, but how many of ya'll do it? What do you favor as replacements?

I too use mustard triple grip on my blades and on crank, jerk bait's. I have used the mustard ultra points from time to time for jig's.

Yes, I upgrade all Trebles to Singles.  Trebles have no place in my Repertiore.
