If anyone has questions about Upper Hand Scent-Marinades please feel free to ask me and I will respond. Jason carries five varieties of our scents and might be adding our newest one soon: Java 'n Garlic. All of our scents ( 16 ) can be added to hot plastic and again during packaging to help displace the plastisol smell and give your baits a good dose of bass loving smells.

Man your scents are great. I now have three of them and love them all. My fav so far is toad magnet
-
Thanks Justin! Yes, Toad Magnet is a good scent. It's probably our 3rd best seller since being introduced last year. I have a feeling it will keep rising as the feedback on it has been nothing but thumbs up.

Glad to see a vendor post -- Upperhandscents -- I am sure you can bring value to the table and assist us in our education.

I was talking to Doug (Upper Hand Scents) yesterday and asked him to come weigh in on some of the scent topics. Doug is an avid fishermen and makes baits as well. I have been using his scents for years and thought it would be cool if he would subject himself to our questions.
Doug, thank you for making yourself available to us.
Feel free to ask any questions and I'm sure Doug will answer them.
On a different / related note, we are going to start carrying his newest scent and the Grape as requested as well.
Tight lines!

Thanks Jason

Colorant wise, we are adding bubble gum, yellow, strawberry and orange just for her. Earthworm for the guys. All will be available this week.

Strawberry AND Grape !!!!!! :o
There goes another $100 bucks or more....I gotta order those scents...and while I'm at it ...another mold....or two...
This is really taking me back to my childhood. I can mold 100's of grape worms....and just gaze adoringly at them!
(I may need to enter therapy after this...!)

Wow! I Like seeing all the grape fanatics!! Hi Jim, ( Ghost Baits ) Many of you guys don't know, but Jim has been one of my biggest supporters from day one!!

Just wanted to let everyone know that two new scents will be available in March sometime: Upper Hand Scents MEGA HAWG> Which combines Crawfish & Shellfish. ANISE PLUS> We've added a little something extra to the Anise. If we tell everyone what it is, others will most likely try to duplicate the recipe. All we can tell you is that it is a proven attractant. The product will be virtually clear and since anise is a strong smell, it will take on most of the ainse properties. However, the added attractant will give the anise a " boost " making it even more appealing to bass! Late Summer/Fall fishing trips with the new product being tested provided some pleasing fishing results. We used jigs and handpoured worms with the scent baked in and added to the package. The jigs were juiced up by adding Anise plus to the skirt and trailer.
We fished the jigs in fall primarily and handpoured worms during late summer.
MEGA HAWG is going to be an incredible option for you guys to bake into your jig trailers and creature baits.

Doug will ccm (do-it). Have these?

I'm currently sporting the Java n' Garlic and lovin it. However I am interested in the grape shad. I seem to remember it being an older flavor; maybe not. Anyways, does anybody have any reviews on it? I mean I'm probably going to get a couple extra scents anyways, but some feedback would be great.

Doug, Are these amino acid based scents?
-
Doug, Any reason why you choose certain scents with certain plastic baits? Or do you simply add what ever you feel like at the moment? ;D ;D
-
Also interested in Jeff's question.
-
Jeff,
Sorry for this late reply. The Scents do not have amino acids added to them.
Muskygary, As for what scents I use: Any creature baits or jig trailers ( Hawg Sauce or Mega Hawg ) for drop shot baits and wacky rigs ( Toad Magnet, Coffee Shad ) for flukes, sluggo's ( Menhaden Shad or Grape Shad. Many anglers go with what they have confidence in. I have tons of guys who use garlic based scents because they have incredible confidence using garlic. My personal favorite is Coffee Shad...it just puts fish in the boat plain and simple!
News for 2014. We are launching a new scent called CHERRY BOMB. It has three scents combined: Garlic-Anise and a hint of Cherry. This stuff smells awesome!! I am testing it now and would love for a few guys down in the South or West to try it for feedback. So far so good. Been using it on drop-shots and Texas rigs with very good results. I will send the bottle free of charge...Just looking for some pics and video clips for the launch of it in Feb. 2014. Our season is slowing down up here as Winter is around the corner. Send me an e-mail if interested: duernberger@sbcglobal.net
Thanks
Doug

I've always been out on the fence with scents but have finally caved in to trying this new product. I arrived in the mail today and the first thing I noticed was that the mailing package didn't smell. lol
I ordered some plastics a long time ago that arrived wearing copious amounts of garlic oil that I could smell before I got to the mail box.
In honesty, this scent from Upperhands isn't offensive in the least and I'll pick up a box to carry the scented baits. The instructions are very clear so I'll get some baits soaking yet today and give them a try next week....my plans to fish are still intact if Mother Nature doesn't pull a fast one on me.
Since we're dealing with hot stuff here, I'll ask if this particular scent is compatable with hot plastic in case I want to try cooking some into baits to try?

Tom I cook all my upper hand scents in my plastic. As long as it oil based it can be cooked in.
