It sounds like the mold is not closing completely.

With nothing in the mold you will get a nice "clack" when you close it and all the mating surfaces are flush.

I only mold one size at a time with this mold, using the suggested hooks. You can normally mold  one size larger than recommended in the mold without issues.

Take the mold without hooks or anything in it and close it and hold up to the light. You'll probably notice light coming through, a lot of these were defective like that. I contacted the store I got mine from and the owner told me that had a bunch that they exchanged over the issue, mine is the same way but I chose not to exchange it. Instead I just got some Permatex red high temp silicone gasket maker and filled the hook eye part of the cavities with it, let it sit overnight and then cut it flush with a razor blade. When you put the hook in and close the mold the silicone will compress and no more flash but it is bad you have to do that. I called Do-it customer service but they gave me another number to speak with one of the guys that works with the molds but it was long distance and I was almost out of minutes with my cell phone, and yes, I use a track phone as I don't use it much and being on a fixed income makes it tough for another monthly bill and still be able to make tackle. Anyway, after that experience I contacted the store in which I purchased the mold and like I said, the owner told me he either got a bad batch or there is a problem but it looks as if one or both sides of the mold are warped as it doesn't close tight, there is a gap and they offered to replace my mold but I didn't feel like packing it up and paying to ship it out and waiting for the replacement which I was told could take a couple of weeks since I pre ordered mine. So there is the fix unless you contact Do-it, most have cell plans so they can contact someone in the shop but for me it didn't help.

I hope you didn't take my post the wrong way, I was just letting the OP know that he isn't doing anything wrong, his mold is probably messed up. I like the mold and I got it the day it was available from the store I purchased it from, but since they sold so many I would have to wait on a replacement so I kept it and then contacted Do-it to see if it was just a few molds, or maybe there was another issue and the woman who spoke to me gave me a number of someone who "works with the molds" but it was long distance and I never asked if there was a toll free number to speak to someone in the shop.  I have the mold since November of last year and I poured a lot with it so I don't think there is much anyone can do at this point and that is on me, I love Do-it molds because the designs are good and the tolerances are good enough for almost zero flash yet still give me versatility to use different brands and sizes of hooks, I apologize that it sounded as if I'm complaining as I didn't mean to.

Thank you Do-it!!!!! I got my new mold, it arrived Friday but I didn't get to use it until today. I got a shipping label and Monday afternoon I dropped the return mold off at UPS and was out fishing this weekend. Well when I got to use the new mold it was really a treat, this mold doesn't have the same issue of lead going into the hook eye, it makes a world of difference and had I known I could go right to Do-it instead of the store I got it from I would have saved myself some time and effort. I will say this though, I would rather that mold with having a little flash in the hook eye than not having that mold at all, Do-it has hit a grand slam with that design and I still believe that it is the best design on the market, there is no better for midwest finesse rigging. So thank you Do-it for great products and service, now I can't wait to get my hands on the new swim bait head.
