Title: Molds suggestions
Post by: nismomick on 12/08/17 16:01 UTC
Hi,

I'm looking to buy new softbait molds and i need your advices!! I want a good all around lure. I fish walleyes, yellow perch and big lake trouts, most of the time vertically (ice fishing and under the boat)

Baitfish are minnows and smelts around 2.5 to 4 inches

I've the budget for 2 or 3 molds

Thank you guys!!

Lake Trout....I'd look closely at the 3.5" Essential Swimbait and either the 3.5" or 4" Essential paddletail bait. Both molds are easy to work with and have some room to play the color thing but more importantly they are sized about right for a serious trout jigger.

I already have the 3.75" es swimbait in stock  :D

Do yo have pictures of a 3.5" paddletail?

Thank you guys. Nice looking bait and for the price :o!! But i'm concerned by the lenght of the hook. think i will get one and give it a try next summer for lake trout!! Here in Quebec lake trout fishing is closed from september to april :(

So it's time to get yellow perch and walleye gears out for ice fishing!!

Any other suggestions??

You might consider one of the carrot molds/  I use the small one (3 inch skinny carrot) all the time vertical jigging for crappie.  In the larger sizes I think it would be very representative of a smelt

The 3.75 is top 2.75 is side but I’m going to a top in 2.75.  Top is so you can pour laminate bait the why the mold is.

Yes thank you very much i really appreciate!! It's very hard to keep control haha!! To easy to push on the paypal button at the end of the page!! Maybe it's a good idea start selling some baits to absorb some expenses!!

Just a suggestion here but Do-it does sell a sample pack. It's a great way to get the bait in your hand and see what it looks like. Pick five baits you think you like and order it. I guess better then ordering a mold and not liking it.

Ohhh!! Molds already ordered... a mold cost twice the price to get it in Quebec so it's a REALLY good idea to order some samples before!! Thank you very much for the info, be sure next time i'll get some!!

This Catfish just guzzled a BT 660 bait. LOL  The 662 is on my radar. I too like the top load molds.
