Hi Temp Glitter Question

I got the high temp glitter from do it mold.  But when I add the glitter to the plastic it changes the plastic from clear to whatever the glitter color is.  And the more I reheat the plastic the darker the color gets.  Does anyone know or have an idea of what I'm doing wrong?

Hi 808 and welcome to the site.

What glitter color are you having the issue with and what size? There are a couple that can be touchy about re-melts in spite of being "hi temp" glitters.

And how hot are you getting your plastic?

I am using the High Heat Hex Glitter .040 and .015.  The red will start clear then bleed.  Same for the blue.

And I am not exactly sure what my temp is.  I am new to this and haven't picked up a thermometer yet.

Any suggestions on a thermometer to check the temps?

I have a couple thermometers that Do-it sells. To me a thermometer is very important.  Blue always bleeds no matter how careful I am.  It's best to just make as much as your going to inject so you don't have to reheat much.  With blue glitter I heat my plastic over 350 degrees to change it over then let it cool down to 330 to put the glitter in. Then shoot right away.  I don't have a problem with Do-its red so I'm guessing your getting your plastic way hot.  Too hot of plastic will ruin most any glitter.

Better control of the temps helped a little.  It still bled.  I got some glitter from Jacobs Mold.  So far non of the glitter from this order bled.

808 Warrior buy the thermometer that they sell here. And some of the problems you have will go away.
