Carrot Mold Question

What is the head diameter of the 6" carrot versus the 6" Skinny carrot? Thanks for any info.

Jason may back me up here.  I received both 6" carrots in a sample pack.  It is hard to put a micrometer on plastic, and it will "shrink" a tad as it cools.  Those caveats said -  I got a nominal 0.50 on the "regular" 6 inch carrot and a 0.375 on the skinny.  You might think that is not that much, but the baits are very different in bulk.  Circumference is 3.1416 X diameter. 
I am sure Jason would provide them in a sample pack.

Do you guys think the six inch skinny carrot would be a good replacement for a trick worm?

Interesting question...

I think more often than not they would catch the same fish.  Most fish the skinny carrots wacky, on a shaky head, Texas Rigged, split shot or drop shot.

From an action perspective I would watch the videos.

For me to compare it to a trick worm I would want to make it a little thinner.  I don't know how important the fatter tail is.  On a trick worm it is important, but the Carrot would get it's action from having a thinner tail. - Tricky Carrot?     

I'll be curious to see what others think...  It would definitely be worth testing.

I have the 6" skinny carrot and I really like it....and the bass really seem to like it too!

I fish it:(kind of in order of frequency)
1. Wacky
2.On a jig head (doing more and more of this)
3. Texas rig
4. Carolina rig...actually more often on a "Lindy rig" set up ...nose hooked for walleyes. It's the same principle. And believe it or not...we troll the darn things!!! Works great on walleye and bass.

I fish the bait a LOT on a jig head because I fish it like a jerk bait. With the new laminate plate (Jason says it's coming soon!)...it will be really easy to make it a laminate like baby bass/silver or silver/white. I put eyes on them just like the jerk baits and dip the heads. Walleyes and saugers really like them that way too!

One of the main reasons (initially) I started making my own baits is that I do NOT like baits with salt because they are too fragile (especially wacky) and they sink. I get only one bass per bait with them! The BIG advantage of CCM plastic and making your own is that they float (very helpful for the Carolina/Lindy rig!) and IF the bass throws the bait...I can see it on the surface and go retrieve it!!! CCM plastic in regular is significantly more durable than a salted bait...and in my opinion every bit as much action..if not more.

Also, since they float, they work really well as a "snake in the grass" in the slop!!! (they barely sink with a heavy hook)
