worm mold
« on: 04/21/12 10:33 UTC »
Can anyone tell me or give advise as to what they think would be an all around good worm mold. I want to make a worm in the 10 inch range but I dont want to get into to many differnet styles. Is the straight worm a better sellar or the curl tailed worms. I want ot settle on one but not really interested in doing both styles.
Treat everyday as if it was your last day on earth and may god bless you well on that day.

This is my opinion, but before I purchased the CCM 7 ribbon tail, the only worm I would use was the Zoom U-Tail. My preference is the curl tail  over the straight tail any day.  I've since purchased  the 10", 7" and the 4.75" and have caught fish on all of them. Good luck with your decision! ;)

I have liked the curl tail worm for 30 plus years now.  In the mid 1970's I was lucky enough to find a 7 Inch open pour curl tail worm mold.  This mold quickly became my number one bait back in those days.  I believe the curl tail will out fish a strait tail worm 90% of the time.  I personally prefer the longer curl tailed in the longer worms and a shorter tail on the under 5 inch worms ( don't really have a solid reason; but is just my choice ).  Either way the tail MUST have good movement.

I love the CCM 12" Stump Thumper.  It's about 12" long on the fall/swim.  The way the finished bait is jointed, you could easily shorten it if conditions warrant it, and not even have to measure.  (by counting and cutting the "joints")
