Simple but effective....

.... meaning the unpainted Do-It hollow bodied frog.

I dipped a few of these up as shown in the picture just because I have had such good luck with store-bought frogs that look just like these. This morning my buddy Tom and I hit the Mississippi River backwaters near Wabasha, MN to try and entice something to hit. We've been brutally hot of late, so we weren't really too optimistic.

The other Tom opted to use a Spro frog [$10] while I went straight to the frog shown here. In the first hour I caught and landed one pike and had two other hits and misses, while the other Tom had one hit and fed the pike his $10 bait. So, I handed him one of the Do-It hollow bodies that I'd painted up. He continued to struggle while I had 4 more hits and misses, caught two more pike and a really decent smallie AND also had a pike of about 40" on that came unpinned before we could coax it into the net. All on the lowly little Di-it hollow bodied frog. In spite of all the teeth this frog saw today it came home with me, maybe just a bit tattered in a couple places.

The 5-packs of the frogs get a full body bath in chartreuse Quick Coat Worm Dip, then a half bath in the same product only in watermelon. I don't mess with eyes on these.

For me, all but two hits came right on the edges of pencil reeds where the water dropped into a few more feet and where the current wasn't super strong. The other couple hits came from back in slop.

I really favor the Quaking Shad, the Smokin Shad 4.75" and the 4.5" Ripper, all fished on weighted hooks or line-thru with a doctored treble in the case of the Smokin Shad, but these guys struggled to get bit today. Clearly a frog bite as was predicted by Brennan. Good call sir!

This frog bite will likely stay good into September so if you're looking for a simple hollow frog, Do-It is the place to stop looking. They have the Worm dip and the silicone tabs for the legs too so its a one-stop shopping adventure!
