Pickling Salt
« on: 09/04/12 08:44 UTC »
Has anyone tried pickling salt in baits? I was doing some research and found it has absolutely no additives to keep the proper color of pickles and the juice. It's also very fine so it doesn't clump at the bottom of the jar. This stuff is in most grocery stores, fairly cheap, and non iodized.

I use plain Kosher salt and put it in a coffee grinder and make it into powder.  This is the simplest way I have found to get good consistent weighted baits.

Your canning salt will work but I'd still whip it thru a blender, coffee grinder or food chopper like Mikesjet said he does,

I use flour salt. It seems to suspend well in the hot plastic. But it does make your baits more opague.

I found the pickling salt still a little too coarse.

Ok well I'm going to experiment with salt in wutzits and carrots. I mostly fish them like a jerk bait weightless so I think it would compliment that. Thanks for the input guys.
