I really like using those "safety pin" wire rigs (Is there a better name?)
That's all I hear them called and they are indeed a dandy way to fish. I haven't approached bass or waldos with a safety pin spinner rig, but crappies go bonkers over them in the sunmmer when I start working Pepin"s shorelines....and yes I'll find the occasional smallie hanging on one.
You must have gotten the shaft replaced....how's the boat running now?
