Wittle Wutz-It
« on: 02/02/13 16:47 UTC »
I am full of questions today. LOL!  I have a pretty big show coming up next weekend. My buddy and I have been mass producing lures for the show. I was going through my bags of stuff and noticed that some of the Wittle Wutz-Its had shifted in the bag due to the worm oil. I opened the bag to move them back into their original position. I noticed that some of the tails are now curled. I went through all of my bags and some are not as bad as others, but they are curled as well.  I make sure my lures cure at least over night at the very least in this cold weather and longer in warmer weather. Has anyone had this issue before? Is there any way to get the tails back to normal and straight again? I am thinking no worm oil in the bag or at least not as much for these things. Thanks in advance!

Chuck

Boil some water and dip the tails in quickly.  They will straighten out.

I've found that curing "overnight" (how long is overnight, really?) is not enough.  Two days...48 hours...is minimum.  If You can cure for 3 days, or 4-5 days, that's much better.

Thanks Shawn! I will give that a try and let you know how it goes.

Overnight is 10 hours at least for me.  From now on I will try to let them sit out for at least 3 days. I thought I had heard they didn't need to cure for as long in the cold weather.

...no prob, Crab.  I agree with BKJ...I cure for MINIMUM 48 hours.  That is at 40 degrees give or take.  In the summer, I keep the garage cooled but cure longer due to the higher temp.  I know many here including myself have tested this, and if you skimp on your cure time you will run into issues...i.e. upset customers.
