THE COLORANTS ARE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO INTENSE!!! CAN THEY BE DILUTED?? A MINUTE AMOUNT GOES A LONG WAY. I'M TRYING TO MATCH A BUBBLEGUM COLOR THAT I USED B4. I NAILED IT. NOW I CAN'T HIT THAT COLOR AGAIN. ONE BOTTLE WILL GIVE ME A REAL DROP. THE NEXT COLOR WILL GIVE ME A DROP AND THIS LONG STRINGY THING. HOW DO I COUNT THE STRINGY THING?? DO THE COLORANTS NEED TO BE SHAKEN?? Have I overdone the caps lock thing? Sorry! Any help will be greatly appreciated. John

LOL on the caps lock !!!... I'm curious as to that question myself , but only because I just finished a bottle of CCM Chartreuse only to find a bunch of ( for the lack of a better word ) sediment in the bottom of the bottle ....
I do , however shake each bottle I use for that pour every time , so I'm not sure as to why it happens ..
I CAN give you 1 tip , go to the hardware store and get a bunch of stainless steel nuts and drop 1 in each bottle , this will aid you in the shaking process ......
PEACE

I believe they can be diluted with worm oil. I have not tried it so I cannot say for sure from experience. Obviously if you are going to dilute, keep records of your dilution ratios. I love the X2 colorants because they are so intense and a little goes a long way.

the string like drop could be that your colorant is too cold. ive noticed when my colorant is about room temp it gets more of a drop when it comes out & when its cold it gets a tag end on the drop

EZ, on the Colorants settling...use a small tool, something that won't scratch...stir the Colorant in the bottom of the bottle, but be very careful because that Pigment (powder) gets settled/hard-packed pretty good and takes a bit of pressure to loosen.  I have a box of 100 Stainless Nuts, 5/16".  One Nut gets dropped into each bottle of Colorant when it's initially opened.  If You're not using a Nut or Ball Bearing, or something similar, You're not stirring the Colorant fully.

The Liquid Colorants in Pearl Colors have some issues of hard-packing, of course due to the Pearl Powder...but the Standard Colorant's Pigment is much finer-grained, and can settle even harder than the Pearls...the Fluorescent Colorants seem to be the worst.  I mixed my Fluorescent Chartreuse (non-X2) a little while back, with a Stainless Spatula that I use for Rod Building Epoxy...I had some dense paste on the end of the Spatula, about like Cold Peanut Butter, but Chartreuse.  Scrape that Paste back into the bottle and keep scraping the bottom of the bottle...get it good.  This is where the Nut/Ball Bearing comes in.  Close the bottle when You feel You've got the settling loosened, then shake...shake until Your arm hurts, then switch hands...keep shaking it, like You would a can of spray paint...keep it well shaken.  If a bottle has been sitting awhile, check it good, then shake it even better.  A well-shaken bottle of colorant will bring much better consistency from the first drop to the last drop...batch to batch.

When You first grab a given bottle of color and start shaking it, listen to the nut/bearing...it'll tell You where the settling/packing is.

Like Gary, I also use stainless nuts for mixing my colorant.  When X2 came out, as I have received colors, I just keep adding a nut or two in each bottle and I have not had any hard packing issues with any of the X2 colors.  Have any of you have had issues with any of the X2 colors?  Like I said I still have the nuts in the bottles, and I do shake them, but it sure seems more like shaking molasses than oil.  :)  Anyway, this thread just got me wondering....
