Tear drop flippin zip

I'll hang a twister on a walleye jig every now and again and the tail curl is always pointed down like you show. For one thing I get way less fouling on the hook's point and I just think the plastic acts better hung like this.

Muskygary/ctom  I took motor oil with gold halo/Violet [plum crazy] with blue&green /watermelon with red/green char with lime&copper/ char with silver halo/ smoke silver pearl with silver halo. with me to Canada tipped with char or orange spike it on the tail. Hands down the Flippin zip in watermelon red with char on tail worked all week over 3.5" swim shad 3"& 4" st and 3" glider. I rig the st  with the tail to right or left not up or down I think it has a better action rigged that way because of the oval shape of the bait. If you rig the tail up or down the hook comes out on the flatter side of the bait and changes the action a lot. Just my thoughts. Everyone has there own way they rig there plastic that works for them that is why the forum is so cool because you get too see different ways that people do things.mike

Right on Wacker, I usually rig on the flat side. That really got started when Doug Stange started rigging swim baits on the side to give better hook-ups and slow the fall rate. I"ll try your way and see if I notice any difference in bites. Thanks for your information. I always look forward to your posts!

Muskygary I'll try it your way.I spend a lot of time during the summer watching baits and there action as test run for the fall walleye run. I'm a watcher every time I'm on the water our from shore I pay  attention to what other people are doing. In the fall the name of the game is slow end I do mean slow .When the water gets cold and there on the feed I have to remind myself if you think your reeling slow enough slow down. I've had more times than not people watching me. I've caught more walleye on hair or feathers and plastic. And sometimes with a plain jig and plastic. A couple years back I had a day most people dream of. My buddy Gene came down to see how I was doing and on five cast  I had five walleye with a total weight over 50 lbs. I had two over 29" three over 28". In the fall a 28" fish is 11lbs.4oz. or bigger the 29" are a 12lbs. That year there was only a 5 to 10 minute window if you wanted to catch big fish you had to be there.  I have caught walleye at midnight on a jig with a zoom tiny fluke. I to enjoy your posts.
