Thank you to all the vets out there for doing what you are doing for all of us. I did a total of 22 years so I know what you are giving up. Again thanks to all that have served, a salute to all.

I have a lot to be thankful for, I'm thankful for a great supporting young lady that I call my wife, I'm thankful for a wonderful strong and intelligent young man that I call my son, I'm thankful to have a career to be able to support my family. I'm thankful for my friends and family that support me and care for me, they help me live my dreams. I'm thankful and blessed with the people that contribute to the charity. But little of this would have been possible with out the freedoms that the service men and women of this country have provided, with this being said my deepest gratitude goes out to Veterans.

In remembrance of my grandfather as wrote by my uncle;
Remembering all the Vets, past, present and future, for their service and sacrifice. RIP Dad, you certainly did your part. Staff SGT Louis H. Nye, lead a Special Engineer Demo/Intelligence Squad to analyze German mine fields, 5th Engineer Special Brigade, Omaha Easy Red, 6:30 a.m. Fought throughout ETO, including clearing the way for Patton's 4th Armored Div., to relieve Bastogne, accumulating 3 purple hearts and 2 trips back to hospitals in England along the way, helping to rescue the Lipizzaner Stallions, and then being shipped to the Philippines where he received his 4th purple heart being shot through the knee. Returned home Feb. 1946, weighing 98 pounds due to malaria. Dad, forgive me for taking as long as it did for me to understand how it all affected you.

I pray for the military of this day in our nation and a special extension of God's grace and favor to the families of those that served in the past.

Our veterans have so much to do with our nation's freedom & integrity and with the blessing, prosperity that our nation has enjoyed. A heartfelt God bless You to all who served in any way, shape, or form in out military. You are all so very appreciated and honored.

If the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it's probably a helicopter - and unsafe.

Hey Hawk,

Sounds like we served during the same time.  I enlisted in April 66 and at that time you could choose your own MOS.  I choose Warrant Officer Flight, passed all the tests, passed the physical and then signed the enlistment papers.  Half-way through basic the CO called me and one other guy in and told us the school was full (Fort Rucker if I remember correctly) and gave us the choice of getting an immediate honorable discharge or applying to OCS without any promises whatsoever.  I took my chances with OCS, was accepted, and spent a year in Oklahoma going through artillery OCS and OCS prep.  Of the 90 or so who graduated, all but six went to Nam.  I was one of two who got stationed in Germany...Nurnberg on the edge of Bavaria to beat all.  I was there from 67 - 69.

I still wonder what would have happened had I ended up flying a chopper in Nam.  Probably would have had a far different life.  In retrospect, I'm OK with the ways turned out for me.

Thanks for your service, Hawk, and all you others too.
Until next time.
