New Bait - Crappie Carrot
« on: 12/02/10 20:39 UTC »
We will be releasing a new bait tonight, the Crappie Carrot.  Professional Crappie Fisherman Ted Ellsworth and I collaborated on this bait.  It's specifically designed to catch tournament quality Crappie, however, it does a great job on Bass as well!  We've been using it on a small jig head, Texas rigged with a split shot and drop shot and have caught Black Bass, Sand Bass, White Bass and I'm sure Ted will Catch some Crappie with it this weekend (we'll have to wait for his report).

Bottom line, it looks like a minnow and has great minnow like action.  The Carrot should produce all types of fish that forage on small bait fish.

It will initially be available in 2.5" and 3".  It's an 8 cavity mold.

Tight lines!

Jason,

The new crappie bait looks great!  Is it possible to get one with a gate??  I would like to be able to pour the top one color and the bottom a different.

While on the subject of crappie baits are there any plans for a 2" triple ripple grub?

Thanks,

Brad

Brad, these are way to big for those small crappie at Pomme!  ;D

These baits are a homerun! I fished these in a crappie tournament today on Lake of the Ozarks and we finished 2nd in it. The guys that won, is a buddy of mine and I had gaven him a few of them to try also. Next time I will wait till its over to give him any. The Carrot did better than I would of ever thought it. It caught crappie from 9" to my biggest of the day a 13"er. These will now become my go to bait for crappie fishing. I will be busy in the shop making more for the next trip, I will post some pictures also.

Thanks again to Jason and Caney Creek Molds.

Brad,

We will be releasing a tail mold very soon that will allow you to pour the tail one color and the body a different color without having to dip them.

I will take a look at the triple ripple grub and see if we can improve on it.  We won't knowingly copy another bait out of respect for the owner.  If we can change a bait and improve it we will.  I'll keep you posted.

On a different note, based on Ted's post, I see a neutral lake and some BBQ being wagered for for bragging rights in the future.

Tight lines!
