Are any of the laminate plates made by Do It interchangeable?  I've only hand poured bellies thus far.  I know some of the smaller baits are a pain to hand pour so figured I ask here if anything interchanged before ordering a plate.  Any information on subject will be appreciated.

I don't know of a universal plate but some may cover more than one mold. I don't use the plates much ad if I need one I just cut one out of punch metal....or I hand pour. Many of the molds are agreeable to using a twin injector so that's another avenue for you to check out. Personally I like hand pouring the belly sides.

I do a lot of hand pour bellies. Easy, fast and really makes a nice looking bait.

I've recently turned to dipping claws and tails into Spike-it dyes and really like the look. Just make sure you dip them on your bench...thathe dye works on everything it touches!

I carry the dyes in my boat and if you take your time and are careful, they don't even drip. I understand accidents happen, though.

Like Tom sad the twin injector work on most mold depending on how the bait is orintaited. The lam plate are made for each mold. I to like to use spike it on some things.

One thing I dislike about using a plate to split baits is that the portion you want to remain in the mold seldom does. After trimming they have to be set back in place and that critical surface tension from the injection is gone and when doing the second color the incoming plastic will often lift the half baits and the injection goes underneath. If a person oils the plate to help keep the belly sections in the mold when the plate comes off, then that oil is shot in between the two colors of plastic and delaminating can be an issue.

Secondary to those little glitches, I like baits who's colors sort of melt into each other without a defined line between them....the baits look more natural without the line.

There are plusses and minuses to each technique and people have to decide for themselves what they want to gain.

If you just want to try to see if you like laminate plates. Just put a piece of tin foil between the mold halves. You'll get both sides but they will be split. Otherwise there aren't many if any that are interchangeable
