Glass beads in senkos?
« on: 10/05/17 11:24 UTC »
The other night we made our first batch of senkos. They turned out looking really nice but all the salt gave them a odd feel. I was on YouTube and found a video where they recommended glass beads over salt. Saying it made the plastics more durable and also less cloudy looking. I bought a small tube of tiny clear  glass beads at Hobby Lobby this morning to try out. I wanted to do this before I went and bought 50 pounds of glass bead media from Tractor Supply or the likes which I am sure is what the video maker intended.

Have any of you tried the glass beads instead of salt in senkos? Any pros or cons, do’s or don’t ?

Search "glass beads" for LOTS of info on this subject! Also, transparent baits.

For example: http://custombaits.com/index.php?topic=9243.msg70841#msg70841

Here is another one. I ordeedr the recommended beads from Ebay and they work really well!

Figuring out the right search word, for a thread I read awhile back can sometimes be a challenge!!

See my changes in my post above. That post tells you exactly what to order and how much per cup for the same sink rate as a Senko.

I'm still a big fan of using the HD additive in my darker baits (it's not transparent). It makes the baits really tough!!

Here's another one:  http://custombaits.com/index.php?topic=10197.msg79274#msg79274

Whenever you search, make sure you search from the beginning of the Forum chain..."Custom Baits-Forum"

Custom Baits - Forum » Soft Plastic Bait Making » Soft Plastic and Plastic Baits - How To??? » Post reply ( Re: Glass beads in senkos? )

I'm like Andrew and use the glass media. Since I've started using it I have never gone back to salt.
