Marabou jigs and minnow got the numbers but I was using a blade and jigs with plastics. It was rainy on and off with the majority of the fish were caught in the early Am and the rest of the day was one here and there. We didn’t stay for the night bite. Both pre spawn and spawning  I had size but less fish than my buddy Mark. I got 29 1/2” 25 1/2” and two 19” Mark had six fish 19’s and a couple 20”. There was a boat from Iowa there that we talked to but they hadn’t had any luck. We also got 2 white fish and a perch.

Du Pere is what, a couple hour to drive from your home? Those are nice fish.

Muskgary  on other trips there we never caught one. Tom yeah a little over 2 hours and the fish we got were in 18 to 23” didn’t get any thing shallower but there were some boat that did. I’ve got a trip on my bucket list for the rainy river for trip like this one.

Nice work Mike!  It's not easy getting those big pre spawners to bite during the day on that stretch of river.  I was up there several weekends ago and we caught your classic 18-23's.  The majority of our bites came on swimshads. Fishing should really improve here in a week or two.  Those big fish on the Fox seem to bite better during the day once they've dumped and are heading back out to the bay.

Kyle 1/2 oz. blade is all I could get them to take. Tried different plastics and I couldn’t get them to bite but seen boats catch eye’s on plastic. Mark got all his on jigs and minnows.
