Bass Master Magazine - Micro Flickin
« on: 12/16/10 19:27 UTC »
There is an article on pages 48 - 51 talking about micro jigs.  It's a good read and interesting as it really supports the experience I've had using the Crappie Carrot for Bass.  If you get a chance check it out.  There's even a picture of a small jig with a trailer very similar to the Carrot on it.  I know first hand this works on a small jig, split shot or drop shot.  This just confirms the Pros have known this for some time.

The official term according to Bass is "Micro Flickin".

There is a guy on ebay who sells tubes similar in size to the carrot. He calls them minnow tubes. The 3" is about the diameter of a pencil. Just big enough to slip a 1/8 oz jighead into. They catch EVERYTHING !!! I've been using them for several years now. There's definitely a carrot mold in my future. A salty carrot should get deep better than the tube. Just the ticket for clear water and highly pressured fish.

I wish I could take credit for the idea.  I guess the whole thing kind of surprised me (how well they worked on Bass).  I test everything and was just beside myself when I started catching Bass off these.  The whole Flickin thing is for real.  Besides that it's a lot of fun catching Bass on a light spinning rig when you're use to fishing with a broom stick and 80lb. test!

I'll have to read up on flickin. I've never heard of it till now. Believe it or not,I've had three of my buddies stand in the front of their boat and pout all day while I was spankin em with those tubes from the back seat. Too proud to eat a little crow and tie on one of my "Bluegill baits"they had teased me about. That's not stubborn. That's STUPID. Had the shoe been on the other foot,I'd have had only one question. Do ya wanna share those tubes,or swim back to the ramp. ;D

Here is the article online.  I guess we should thank our Crappie brethren for putting us on a trend before it went public!
