How hard to modify?
« on: 08/20/22 12:58 UTC »
How hard would it be to take a blank lure mold & turn it into a weedguard mold for crappie lure hooks? Was thinking close mold & drill 5/8" holes to fit injector & then 1/8 or 3/16" holes on down from there Something you just stick end over hook eye & pinch off long enough to cover hook point would be all i wanted. Would this work or would i need to try to add some venting to it?  Also what diameter would you think they would need to be for the small crappie hooks most use? 1/8"? Thanks

I'd get all the cavities cut, then I'd open the mold and use the edge of a square file to make very small vents starting at the end if the cavity drawing the file lightly away from the cavity to the other outside edge of the mold. You'd only need to do one side of the mold. Use a very fine file and do not bear down on it while drawing it away from the cavity.

Got some pictures of the final product?
Nope because i haven't got around to ordering a mold yet. Can you say procrastinator   ;D   Actually doing  something like this i may see what i can find to make a mold for them. Wouldn't really need to be much of one for what i'm wanting to do if i can find something to use.
