Rippers - 2" and 2.5"
« on: 11/25/22 14:54 UTC »
I have had the 3" Rippers, and they are on the chunky side of what I like to use for walleyes.

Does the 2.5" drop much size wise, and is it small enough to fish on a 1/16 oz. head?

Also looking at the 2" and wondering if it may be on the big side - many of our local lakes the crappies run in the 6" to 10" range, and I often use the 2" Swim Fry and it works awesome, but looking for more of a paddle tail.  In some places I get a fair amount of yellow perch mixed in, and wondering if the 2" Ripper would be too much for the smaller perch mouths.

Any thoughts appreciated!

For crappies in the 6" to 10" sizes the 1.5" Thump-It works great and is also dynamite on larger sunfish/bluegills.

Tom's recommendation on the 1.5 Thump Grub is a good one.  I have the 2" Ripper and have caught a lot of bass on it.  I haven't caught any crappies, Perch, or similar on it.  An alternative would be the 2" Thumper Swim Fry or the 1.75 Frog. I haven't fished the Thumper fry but do really well on the frog (not fished on top).  I thank the sale goes through today, so you could save a bit of money on any of the CNC molds as well.  If you can find one, the 1.75" ES paddle tail bait is another good one.
