Especially when the bite starts off with some serious shallow smallie action with fish like this one in the picture. I caught seven like this in 15 minutes this morning and number 8 broke me off. Only about 2 to 2-1/2 feet deep on rocky shoreline Ater getting re-rigged I dropped the knot to fish deeper, about five feet, and was instantly rewarded with a super crappie bite that was still torquing when I left. With 8 very nice 12" fish in the bucket I called it good and came home.
My first trip to this spot a week ago was a dud, but today they were crazy and its hard to not like a season start like this.
