The thumper tail is a boot tail. The swim bait tail is like a twistertail only ending into three fingers (Jason's trademark!)

The way I read it is the same tail just thicker?

Quote
Please select the original thumper tail or swim tail from above.  The thumper tail is slightly thicker and puts off a heavier thump when retrieved.  The swim tail is slightly thinner than the original, and has more action on the fall and with a slower retrieve.

No, The thumpertail is shaped like your foot (L-shape) It is blunt and shakes back and forth. The swim bait tail is like a twister tail, long and thin, it moves very easy but doesn't put out the vivration like a thumper tail. Big difference between the two, look at the pictures in the store to see the difference.

I talked to Jason about this last week.  It is the same tail design but the thumper is the orginal design (looks like 4 fingers) and the swimming tail is the exact tail design but is thinner.  I hope this helps everyone  :D

Correct, they look the same, only the thickness is different which impact ts the action.  The original puts off more of a thump,  vs the thinner tail which is more of a vibration.  I will rename it so it is less confusing.

Thanks,

Jason

Sorry guys.  I really debated adding the other tail and knew it would cause confusion.  I updated the description as follows:

------------------
Please select the original tail or thin swim tail from above.  They look the same, only the thickness is different

The original tail is slightly thicker and puts off a heavier thump when retrieved. This is ideal for a constant retrieve, 3/8 oz or heavier swim jig, or umbrella rig.

The thin swim tail is slightly thinner than the original to allow the same action on the fall and with a slower retrieve.  This is ideal for a stop and go retrieve, 1/4 oz or lighter swim jig, or working slowly along the bottom.

An alternative to the swim tail would be to get the original tail and pour it in soft when you want a bait with more action on light weight or slow retrieves.
-------------------

Please let me know if this still is confusing.

Thanks,

Jason

I assume I have the "thumper" tail on both my 3.5 and 4.5" Swimshads since I purchased them before the option of the swim tail.

You mention to pour it in "soft" to make the thumper tail work better on a drop/slow retrieve. How many drops of CCM softner would you suggest to a cup of CCM Medium??

Yes, you have the original tail.  As far as softness goes, it really just depends on the action you are looking for (weight / retrieve speed).

Did some testing with the different hardness I think it vibrates better with a med hard.
Really pleased with the tail action thought it would have more of a swimming action.
(Have not poured it in a soft)
Want that sucker working in a thumping action.
