Action VS color

What do you think gets you more fish ?

I personally think that action is bigger but color really makes the difference when the bite is slow. I'm no expert by anymeans just my two cents.

Who really knows, right?  My thoughts are you need to get a bait where the fish are depth and location.  You need to have the right action to match their state (active feeding, ect).  And since bass are big sight feeders color plays a role in getting your bait noticed (i.e. dirty water I use darker colors).  So the answer to the question is it depends on the water, the time of year and many other variables.  Just my thoughts on the topic.

Sometimes it is all based on the conditions. I have had lakes/days/ that color is the only thing that matters, Red might be the color of the day. It doesnt matter what your using as long as it is red. Other days it is white.

So many factors in fishing, and so many books and videos made due to them all.  What I have found during my time on the water that is the single most important factor involved, no matter what, hands down, whether you are an occasional angler, a moderate angler, an angler with an addiction to the water, a professional tournament angler, or a club tourny person, is holding your mouth right.  Period.

I fish alot of dirty water or green from the zebra muscle.  I will take action w/a dark bait.

The most important factor is fishing where the fish are. For instance when the bass are up in the grass, fishing cranks in open water won't work. So we have to rember that baits are tools to get to where the fish are. Now if the fish are active feeding; you want a bait that fishes fast and covers water. The better you can match the color the more you should catch.

I think it's presentation, location, action and then color. But I'm a big believer that your colors need to be as close to the natural prey that's available to whatever fish you're targeting. Most colors I believe are for catching fishermen, not fish.

Action vs. Color...that's along the same lines as 30/06 Sprg. vs. .270 Winchester...they both have their application and effectiveness.  I can not, with any logic, make myself believe Color doesn't have a role in throwing artificials.  Some say that fish are color-blind, which I also don't believe, unless it's all just relative to what they're eating or simply can see.  I don't know the real truth in it, but with all of my days and years of either Knockin' 'Em Dead or gettin' Skunked, there is definitely something to this Color Thing.  One thing I started doing (maybe last year), was changing Baits and/or Colors WHILE the fish are biting.  I'm not hungry, so it doesn't really matter if the fish stop biting when I change.  If the fish keep biting after I change, note taken.  If they stop, either change back to what they were biting, or go to yet another bait and continue.  I TRY to not only change when the fish aren't biting, because how will I know they were biting on "only that bait", and that Presentation, if I don't change at least the Bait while they're biting?  Change when they're biting, as well as when they're not biting.  I believe this gives us insight and learning, as well.
