Which material for injecting?
« on: 11/22/12 14:30 UTC »
So I finally picked up an injection mold from CC, and I have to say I'm very happy with it. The only bad thing is that I have soft formula since I started by pouring open molds, and I can see that it is just a little too soft for injection baits with the thin appendages.

So whats your suggestions for improved durability without going TOO hard? I haven't tried either Medium or Hard yet I will be getting some of the sinking additive with my next order because of what I've been reading about improving durability. I do want to keep using soft for pouring, so I figure I might as well just get another gallon of a better suited material to use for injecting.

Right now I have the 3.75 Birch Bug mold, but I will be making my own injection molds with appendages about as thin as these.

I would buy a pint of hardener and then you can adjust the way you like.

I use only the regular plastic. I shoot the 2" thumper fry with this type plastic and they turn out great.

I would buy a gallon of CCM Regular...and save the soft stuff for later (for crappie baits, tail molds, etc).

I'm all about keeping my process under "control" and minimizing variables....so I can consistently get the baits quality I want....and adding hardener would be adding another variable that you just don't need!

I do everything in CCM regular.

Push the "easy button" and just get some CCM regular!

My thoughts exactly. I'm making another order soon and it would just be easier to get another type of material instead of messing with ratios and all that.
