Meeting Andy....
« on: 09/29/12 18:38 UTC »
I had the occasion this morning to meet Andrew Lamberson.  What a guy. And when he says he is 6'4", he's not just whistling Dixie.

Andy and I live 40 miles apart and today we made a loan/swaps. I got a tour of his laboratory and I can tell you it is first class, as is Andy.

Andy....it was great to finally connect today. Next time, let's fish.

Thanks...it was a pleasure meeting you and your wife....I hope her Antique shop was open when you tried the second time....or I would be the trip home was a bit of a chore!

Tom gave me some of his "glow" baits...and they are absolutely amazing! I charged them up in the sunlight and then ran into the bathroom to see them in dark. Lucky for me, my wife was not at home so she didn't hear me giggling! :-[  If you are interested in the technology and how to make them you have to have Tom explain it to you. I think it will be worth it!

I can't wait (well...actually...I can...but...) to use them on the ice. I bet they will be amazing in the "just before dark" period went the big 'gills seem to want to bite.

We make a "bait charger" from a flash unit from a Canon AE-1 camera and a box we lined with aluminum foil.  A cut out to fit the flash.  Push the "test flash" button and one well "charged" bait was ready to fish. That was 25 years ago.  I could see using a good LED light would do the same pretty quickly these days.

Well, if anyone is in SE WI (I'm in Sheboygan Co.) I'd love to see what kind of neat baits you're making!  I just have one mold atm, so nothing exciting to see here but you're welcome to visit.
